The 2008 Line-Up

Remember Jerry Music Festival

Tony Furtado

Tony Furtado took up the banjo at age 12. At age 19, he entered himself in the banjo playing competition at the venerable bluegrass festival in Winfield, Kansas (Walnut Valley Festival) and won the Grand National Championship. Hailed as a banjo prodigy, he got his first record deal in 1992 and has been making music and releasing records ever since. As he was cementing his reputation as banjoist extraordinaire, Furtado was also developing himself into an equally virtuosic slide guitarist. And now, with his latest release, Thirteen (Funzalo Records, 2007), this restless artist makes an exponential leap into the wide-open spaces of mythopoetic America, a terrain inhabited by such personal heroes as Cooder, the Band, Creedence, Petty and Waits. No two ways about it - this heartfelt, multileveled work completes Tony Furtado's ascent from the folk circuit to the big leagues.

Izabella

Izabella brings psychedelic-soul and rock music, layers of interwoven musical magic, and a true desire to take you higher. The key to the highway can often be found on the dance floor. There is little more we are bringing your way...the music can take us there! The Izabella boys have vowed to “Check Into Fresh” in 2008, taking their soulful dance party on the road fulltime. The band made big strides in 2007, its first year of operation. After over 80 gigs from March to December, exceptional performances at Bobolink Music Festival and Las Tortugas Dance of the Dead, and sit-ins with members of Railroad Earth and Scott Law, this band secured a strong foundation throughout the West Coast. In January of 2008, the band released their second studio creation "In The West", and began to tour fulltime and nationwide. The first release, "Dream When You Sleep," was recently picked up for distribution in Japan by Grey Dog's Records.

Reverend Slanky

An eight piece funk, soul and afro-beat project out of Missoula, Montana that will keep you dancing until the cows come home.
Those who know the band certainly have felt their hyper-percussive beats reverberate through their feet in the last couple of years on the floor of the Top Hat, the Other Side, the Badlander and every outdoor venue where they have injected a litany of funk and soul, R&B and Afro-Cuban beats - Al Green to Stevie Wonder to Beck. “We’re all trained musicians, all jazz musicians,” said founding member Cody Hollow, lead singer and percussionist, who regularly brings a small warehouse-full of instruments to the shows. “It’s music that’s fun to listen to, but also fun to dance to. I think we branch out to different audiences. All the older people in town dig it because it’s music they grew up with and the young people love it because it’s retro.” Montana PBR band of the year!
