JERRYFEST 2010 Festival Line-Up
A combination of rock, alternative, psychedelic, and a touch of new wave, Flux Capacitor has abandoned all the rules and decided to push the envelope. Their music exhibits subtle hints of “Cream”, U2, and Nirvana, bundled up into their own unique blend of genres unlike any other act in today’s Rock N Roll scene. Their upbeat tunes are intelligently crafted around lyrical tones of love, disdain, sarcasm, hope, future, demise and the unknown. They take their music very personally and it shows in their dynamic live performance. Suitably named “FLUX”, a synonym for the word exciting, this band will push you over the edge and could quite possibly change the way you view music today. Husband-and-wife duo of Eric and Heather Hurlock backed by musicians Josh Sceurman, Ellen Houle and Daniel Bower, have earned growing acclaim in the Philadelphia region for their distinctive “alt-folk barn rock” sound. Rooted in the rural hills of Pennsylvania, Eric’s original songs are built with literate lyrics, organic harmonies, and melodies that range from lilting to urgent. It’s an old sound with a modern sensibility. They were finalists in the World Cafe Live's Philly Rising competition, they've had the pleasure of playing live on 88.5 WXPN. Eric and Heather have been singing together for over ten years in the backwoods and barrooms of Pennsylvania, the beaches of Assateague, the pubs of Scotland, and the streets and squares of Boston and Cambridge. A tribute to the timeless poetry, culture and musical innovation of a generation of musicians and the music of the 60's. Grateful Ted & Friends embodies the spirit of the 60's with the music of bands like the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, the Band and many more. Just as the Musicians from the greatest era in musical history often co-mingled and jammed with one another, so do the players that revolve around Grateful Ted & Friends. Anchored by steadfast enthusiasm and JerryFest's Founder Ted Gaul. Anyone who Knows Ted, and has seen him play at Stonersville and various venues throughout the Berks county, with all the many configurations of Friends over the past 10 years, also knows Grateful Ted & Friends presents a fresh and constantly changing improvisational approach to the same tunes. Incidentally, this also reflects the character of The Grateful Dead's style, and a core value held by many musicians who respect a creative approach to musical form. As any Taper or Dead Head can tell you, the Dead Never played the same song the Same way Twice. Most everyone believes that is a good thing and so does Grateful Ted & Friends.

A beautiful sunset called the collaboration between members of Pangea and The Neo Trio. They got together to create an "Evening of Grateful Dead Music". With positive creation in attendance at their first show, the vibe and the spirit came to life. The musical compositions created a launch pad for improvisation, while respecting the original songs and lyrics of the Grateful Dead. Since then the GLJB has been performing, they are watching the fan base grow and expand. The GLJB often features other local acts and various "sit in" artists to help the community grow. We are truly inspired by the music of The Grateful Dead, community of fans and dancers! Remember..... "If you get confused listen to the music play."
The Manatawny Creek Ramblers spawned in 2004 when Daniel Bower was commissioned by a local venue to custom form a house bluegrass band. Well received, 5 years later throughout the greater Philadelphia and central PA regions MCR has managed to grow an adoring fan base and authentic sound consisting of original and traditional bluegrass music. In addition to playing festivals, bars, and clubs, recently members have developed an American History of Roots Music program in which they've taken to schools, camps and libraries. Dakini is a
four-piece original band from Hegins, PA. They create a flowing musical
experience that is truly unlike anything else. With influences from all genres
of music, Dakini is rock 'n' roll with a driving energy that can satisfy any
and all who come to experience a show. Together for eight years with
three full-length studio albums, one live album & hundreds of bootleg
recordings, Dakini has established themselves as one of Pennsylvania's most
original, exciting, diverse and ever-changing improvisational bands. Electric
sets are most dominant at a Dakini show, but they are very much at home
acoustically, playing a variety of stringed and percussive instruments. Rock
'n' roll to country, bluegrass to funk, jazz numbers to swirling, trickling
movements & chaotic space & trance. A night of Dakini is a passage
through various musical styles, eras, generations & unknown aspects of
musical expression. Dakini has performed
alongside numerous local & national groups including The Jerry Garcia Band,
Dickey Betts & Great Southern (of the Allman Brothers Band), Derek Trucks
Band, Jazz Mandolin Project, Bernie Worrel (former keyboardist for George
Clinton), Ulu, Zen Tricksters, Max Creek, Sister Carol (Grammy-nominated Reggae
artist), The Dude of Life (Phish lyricist), The Breakfast, The Recipe, George
Wesley, U-Melt, Brother's Past, Soulive, The Slip, Benevento/Russo Duo, Kaki
King, Raq & more. The
evolution of sound is inevitable. Psychedelphia is a collective of open minds
that has adopted this law. With the release of their debut recording "In
With the New" (EP, 2008), they have effectively spread this profound truth
in order to enhance listeners' experiences. Drawing influence from their
multi-cultural upbringings, the combination of music, spirituality, nature,
physics and mathematics have proven to be the major catalysts for developing
their sound.
